What is Depression:

It’s natural when a person is feeling  low sometimes, but if that down mood continues day after day then it could be a signal for depression. Depression is a chapter of sadness with other symptoms that lasts for more than two consecutive weeks and is terrible enough to disrupt our daily activities.

What Causes Depression:

Researchers aren’t sure what exactly causes depression, but an eminent theory states it is because of altered brain structure and chemical function.Brain circuit that regulates mood tends to work less efficiently when a person is in depression.

Experts also say that while stress(such as losing a loved one) can trigger depression, one must be biologically prone to develop this disorder. Other triggers for depression could be certain medications, alcohol or abusive substances,hormonal changes or even the climatic conditions.

Unexplained Body aches:

These are one of the most common symptoms of depression.A sudden increase in physical complaints such as headaches, back pain, aching muscles, and stomach pain are the warning signs of depression



Sleep changes:

Irregular sleep, incomplete sleep, insomnia or waking up in the early hours of morning or oversleeping are the symptoms of depression.



Concentration problems:

This symptom causes a major problem to the person suffering from depression. The patient is not able to concentrate in his daily activities mainly in work that includes involvement of mental activity.This also results in the downfall of work ability.

Appetite or weight changes:

The person may observe a sudden change in the appetite which may increase or decrease. People say that a person suffering from depression observes a quick downfall in his/her appetite thus resulting in weight loss.But research shows that increase in appetite/weight can also be the symptoms of depression.

A change of more than 5% of body weight in a month is considered to be a symptom of depression.(for people with normal diet).



Loss of energy:

A person suffering from depression may also Feel fatigued, sluggish, and physically drained. Your whole body may feel heavy, and even small work lets you completely exhausted and can consume a long time to complete.
